Security Guards
Security Guards are people who are hired to protect a particular structure, property, or dwelling or to manage a group of people. Security guards are used all over the world and are common at transit shelters and stations as well as malls and large centres where people congregate.
Security guards are also useful for helping prevent thefts at stores and some wear a uniform whilst some are plainclothes and act like a regular shopper in a store. Some security guards are allowed to carry handcuffs, gun, and bullet proof vests while some are only allowed to carry handcuffs and a baton or pepper spray. It varies by country and by the laws that govern that particular country.
Security guards are usually not allowed to arrest people and often rely on the help of police to make a civilian arrest even if they see someone commit an act of crime. Typically, security guards are required to know some basic defensive training in the event they are attacked. Some security guards know basic CPR and are able to help people in the event they are stricken with a sudden event such as a heart attack.
The other benefit of having security on site is that it reduces the insurance premium for that particular company. In some cases the discount exceeds the actual insurance discount and therefore makes having security on site more lucrative.
