Electronic Tagging: Patients with dementia

Dementia is a kind of disease in which a person keeps on wandering from one place to another. A person may even wander in sleep and unconsciousness. The people suffering with dementia have to be kept in special care. Their family has to be careful about their movement and have to keep a check on them all the time. It is not possible to stay away all night long to watch the person sufferings from dementia.

Therefore the use of electronic tagging system has been used in order to know the whereabouts of the person sufferings from dementia. Electronic tagging allows keeping a regular watch on a person and also helping us know if the person has left a particular area of safety and entered some place that can be unsafe for him.

A tag is attached to the ankle of the person suffering from dementia and whenever he leaves a particular area the family members or the hospital authorities are alerted and they can reach that area instantly to ensure his safety. There have been many cases in the last few years where people suffering from dementia have met with an accident and dies. The electronic tagging technology helps us to be vigilant about the movement of the patient. Most of the hospitals in different parts of UK use electronic tagging technology to keep their patients in a safe place and restrict them from wandering here and there. The technology has helped hospital authorities a lot.
